Email is not only one of the most important business tools today, but unfortunately also one of the main sources of information security threats. Viruses most often enter a company’s corporate network via email. In many cases, the infection of just a single computer by a virus can compromise all of a company’s data. This is why it is crucial to protect all potential channels through which threats can penetrate the corporate network.

The reliability of our cloud services and the security of our clients’ data is a top priority for us. Cloud Exchange has always been protected by two free antivirus modules. However, given the constant growth of threat levels, we realized that this was no longer sufficient and that our service required top-tier corporate antivirus protection. After extensive negotiations with various antivirus developers, we ultimately chose Kaspersky antivirus.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is one of the best in the world, ranking at the top of various independent ratings and providing the highest level of antivirus protection. Additionally, as Kaspersky Anti-Virus is a domestic product, it often responds more quickly to specific threats relevant to Kazakh customers. After implementing Kaspersky antivirus, we collected statistics and analyzed its effectiveness compared to the two existing antivirus solutions. The analysis showed that Kaspersky blocks an average of 50–100 virus threats per day that were not caught by the free antivirus modules. While this may seem like a small number compared to the millions of emails processed daily, experience shows that even a single missed virus can compromise an entire corporate network with thousands of computers. Therefore, we are confident that this decision was the right one, and now our clients can have a greater sense of security.

Nevertheless, it is important to remember that even high-quality, multi-layered antivirus protection is not a panacea for all types of threats. A comprehensive approach to information security is necessary, including perimeter and endpoint protection, timely software updates, employee training to avoid opening unknown files or programs, and, most importantly, regular backups of all critical business data stored in a secure location outside the corporate network.
